Bonfire night used to be an event held in areas over 2 or 3 days. Now it seems to be the “Norm” for them to be going up from October through to mid November, then New Years eve and now on people “Special” birthdays too.
As animal owners of many, many years, this has become a hated time of year. Fortunately none of our own animals seem bothered but its always a huge concern as we also own horses, who in a panic will literally hurl themselves at fencing to get away.
Here at Searby Top, not only are we over a mile from any villages, but we have very understanding immediate neighbours who do not and will not let fireworks off. For this reason, we have had more and more Cats and rabbits stay with us over the Guy Fawkes period to ensure they don’t suffer the stress.
